Foster for Life - Seniors and those with mild Physical Disabilities
Our newest program offers our county's seniors, living on a fixed or limited income, an opportunity to obtain a feline companion, on a foster for life opportunity!
Seniors would not only be saving the lives of critters they'd be able to foster for a week or for a life time!
It's up to the individual!

A.A.S.K.'s new program is set to open doors to those in our county, who felt unable to afford and maintain a cat companion!
Plus, all too often, seniors have also expressed to us their concerns over their own health, which hinders their decision on obtaining a feline companion.
Their heart is wanting, but their fears win out.
Our program removes these concerns by supplying the food, kitty litter, a litter box, food and water dishes! One of us will drop in for a pre-planned visit, once a week for an hour or more, to see how things are going, to assist in cleaning and changing the litter and or to answer any questions or concerns!
We're excited!

Basic Procedures
We begin by meeting with the individual in their home to assess what character type amongst the shelter's animals, would best suit the individual. We bring a form with designated questions that we ask and fill out ourselves.
We bring a contract that we review with the individual. The contract outlines the Foster-for-Life agreement and guarantees the safe keeping of the critters in guardianship. Once this is signed by both parties, we continue.
We like to see where the critter is going and it also enables us to calculate the mileage to and from the home - so that we can make arrangements for one of us to travel to visit once a week. (* for the first month, if all goes well, we could cut the visits to once a month thereafter, to deliver the monthly supplies - the decision is up to the individual who is fostering)
Once everything is agreed upon, we set a time and date to deliver the kitty to the home. Upon delivery, we stay for an hour or so, to assist in the transition and make an appointment for the next visit prior to leaving.
It's as easy as that!
