Being a Foster Parent to a confused and scattered little soul offers many benefits and rewards.
Our Foster program assists in placing animals like "Little Missy" seen in the picture, into homes during times when the population of unwanted or abandoned animals, gets too high and there's just not enough room.
Once some of the animals at the shelter are accepted intoloving homes of those on the Foster for Life Program, then room becomes available for those in the foster program to return...

Becoming a Foster Parent
Becoming a foster parent, is a selfless task, one that offers no pay, however many benefits.
While some cats and dogs are very receptive to people, others who have been abused or have been in many homes, are much like fostered children and have learned to become mistrusting and recluse.
Animals like this take time to get to come around and require patience, understanding and compassion. Those who foster, must have the time to give and be at home somewhat on a regular basis.
Our procedure begins with the submission of a foster parent application. The application is then reviewed by our board and a visit to your home. We like to talk to you and hear about previous pets and your experiences with other animals in your life.
Once the application has been completed and verified your location, the board makes a decision on whether you have been accepted into the Foster Program.
If you've been accepted, then we try to match an animal that would suit your personality and lifestyle with the animals we have available.
More about the Book! Some animals require alot of attention, some don't. Some are great around children or other animals, some aren't. All depends on many factors that are decided upon according to each individual situation and we go from there.

If you live in Vulcan County Southern Alberta and are interested in becoming a foster parent, please print up and complete this form. Then mail it to the address at the bottom of the form.
