Thirty-five years
ago I said that animals were healing companions and that anyone who could
hurt an animal, could definately hurt another person, worse yet a child
and it's taken society thirty five years to acknowledge these
facts.Getting right down to it, my 35 year background evolved around 3 trades, which I now combine into "programs" that are therapeutic for people and save the lives of animals. Having started out in life at the age of 15 years old in Montreal Qc. - I used my talent as an artist to survive. As time progressed, I encountered influential people who assisted me with my involvement with Montreal street kids concerning art and occupational therapy. A city counselman Mr. Stevens, took a deep interest into what 8 of us were doing in the late 70's early 80's. Fortunately for us, this was when there were issues over bill 101 in quebec and folks were moving away, leaving by the thousands, leaving schools and churches empty. With some help from Mr. Stevens and his associates, we were donated an old B'Nai Brith Summer Camp up near St. Agathe and eventually, an old school (from the school board) to use as our facility! This team work evolved into something that still excists today! The reward in those efforts is that some of the kids who came under our wing, are now the ones who are the leaders in the Organization - today. During the time I was involved with the street kids, I took a Psychology and Interior Decorating Course, using some of the techniques I was learning, on the kids - or with the kids. My job was to keep them off the street after school and on the weekends and I did this with wood working, painting, creating something new out of something old by recycling something they had in their rooms and ... visits with my animals. I can't ever recall a time in my personal life from the time of childhood to adulthood, when I didn't have any animals in my daily life. I always did. Most of the animals I acquired came with a story - a background and much like people, their backgrounds formed their characters. Otherwords, like an unfair percentage of pet animals in the world, they were abandoned and-or unwanted by previous owners. In observation of characteristics over the years, I compare their natures to people and in comparison to foster children, abandoned or abused animals get equally confused, uncertain, defensive and sometimes violent with mistrust or anger - expecting but one thing from people - and that's pain. As those who know about animals know, animals do suffer emotional set backs that they often act out. They destroy things, pee or even bite. These mannerisms, define just how child-like most animals really are and like children, need protecting. |

This passion for life and all that lives, shows up
frequently in my artwork and photography. It comes naturally and I exampled the passion with my children and grandchildren. Over the years and through my travels, my camera has faithfully served as a reminder of the beauty in a landscape, a sunset and animals in the wild. With pollution on the rise, population explosion on the expansion, wildlife have been forced to change habitants or die. And while life goes on and the sunsets are hindered by blue grey clouds, there's people imposed hardships that so many animals suffer - alone. "Suffering" being the key word and it's the suffering that finally urked me so bad, that I had to do something - something that a part of my own childhood had trained me for, my background with occupational therapy, something that came naturally when it came to animals, something that would be of benefit to people and the animals - something that would be healing - to heal the suffering and better the quality of life. I then spoke to people of like mind, got children
involved around the animals and the society began to slowly take form
using two older fixer uppers to start.I vowed that A.A.S.K. Services would always represent a better quality of life through healing with animals and nature - a retreat for animals, where agencies will eventually be invited to visit with clients, participate in artistic and cultural workshops. We will also be implementing documentaries of enviromental values and wildlife, as a means of touching base with client's inner self and understanding on this planet. I vowed that I would save as many animals as I could and in the process, bring light to all walks of life on this planet - a planet that need be treasured before it's too late. In the process of opening doors for people to experience pet companionship, it also opens subliminary doors to the value of life. A solution that saves the lives of the innocent. Both people and animals alike. Thanks for visiting! I hope you find our cause worthy! be a Member or a Sponsor (be both!)
