Our Policies, are strict but simple.

About the Animals in our Care:
~ Animals in the shelter, are animals that are either strays or ferals that have been removed from the streets. They are animals that have been wild, abandoned or injured.
~ On very rare occasions, we take in pets that pet owners can no longer keep (to avoid having to pick them up off the streets later on)
Those that pet owners can no longer keep, must show us proof of a newspaper ad, bulletins or posters, that we have seen ourselves, so that we know every responsible effort has been taken by the pet owner, to seek new accomodations for their pet.
~ Appointments are required by the pet owner, to discuss the situation for which the animal needs to be surrendered - prior to accepting the pet. *Please DO NOT bring the pet with you to the appointment.

Policies for Intake:
~ When a friendly animal that has been found on the streets by one of us or is surrendered by a resident, into the shelter, we follow simple procedures in attempts to find the animal's owner.
~ We "hold animals" for a period of four (4) months as opposed to 72 hours required by law!
We do this because we give allotted time for word of mouth to travel in hopes that it reaches the animal's owner.
~ Posters are put out for the 4 month duration and remain unless others take them down. After the 4 month period, we remove the posters from their locations.
~ We call the local Vets, to see if the animal's description rings a bell and alert them that if anyone should inquire about them, to give us a call.
~ We call the local ByLaw dept. to see if anyone has called inquiring about the said animal. In doing so, ByLaw is aware that the said animal is in our care and can refer the pet owner to us, if they should call inquiring about their pet.
~ We also try and pay attention to any new poster type ads that define a pet has been lost, in case there is a number to call.
~ In the future, we will be alloted a space in the local newspaper, where we will be posting lost pets, our program animals and animals for adoption.
~ In the future, we will now be charging a fee for animals picked up by their owners after the first 30 days. The Fee is set at $50.00 a month there-after to assist with food costs and other.

**Extrordinary circumstances will be taken into consideration concerning payments.

Foster n' Adopt Programs:
~ At this present time, we are not open for direct, immediate adoptions.
Our present objectives are to initiate the animals into life long fostering programs with Seniors and those who have mild physical disabilities.
These programs are called "Foster for Life" where the critters can be fostered for a week to 10 years! or longer!
As a rural country shelter, we cannot stress enough how the animals in our care are "companion animals" not outdoor - barn cats or farm dogs. However, through networking, we can obtain such animals - that will be spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out and we follow the basic adoption procedures and fees described in our Policies for Fostering.
Once communication has been established, a Foster Application is completed by the individual(s) and reviewed within 2-3 days for approval.
Once approved, a 24-48 hour period is allotted for the individuals to prepare for the new arrival and we personally deliver the animal to the residence.
There is a period of four (4) weeks where the specific animal is permitted to reside at the individual's home, to see how the animal fits into the individual's lifestyle and routine. We visit once a week to see how things are going and to make sure that supplies are in order.
When the new foster parent agrees to residency of the animal, we only visit once a month to drop off the needed supplies and get updates on how things are going.

We reserve the right to approve or disapprove all foster applications and or home fostered programs.
