![]() Dangers Outdoors and Elsewhere for Stray Catsarticle by hkh Disease, weather, vehicles, starvation, food poisoning, lack of water, chemicals, preditors, injuries, illness, exhaustion - Strays face many dangers. With a little help, understanding and compromise, strays could survive a little easier while keeping our communities free of rodents and disease. With a little compassion, these helpless critters can be befriended and serve us even better! The following tips involve some of the unforeseen dangers that strays live daily and what we can do to avoid disaster to them. About Empty Tin Cans... Who would ever think that the can of Ravioli they just threw out, was snuck out of their garbage by a starving stray, who then suffocated in the can trying to eat the little remains of sauce!? What a horrific way to end life, all for a "taste" of food to a starving critter. Sad but true and it happens daily! Once they push their ears in past the open top lid, they can't usually get their head back out because their ears are too large to slip past through and there they sit, unable to breathe or see, till death comes upon them - slowly. Something as simple as rinsing and squashing the open cans before throwing them out, can help avoid un-necessary and certain death to a stray. We're Adding - more to come! |
